CrossGen What?
Psalm 100:5-For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through ALL generations.”
Are you wondering what in the world is CrossGen Life? (Hint: it’s not a CrossFit exercise class )
CrossGen Life carries a double meaning: it is both cross‑generational living and cross‑shaped living.
CrossGen Life is a ministry to encourage and equip all of us to adopt God’s OG plan for flourishing- Cross Generational Living.
True connection across the generations begins where Christ reconciled us all; at the foot of the Cross.
“From one generation to another, love becomes the legacy we place in each other’s hands.”
Jeff and I’ve been praying the last 3 or 4 years, about our “3rd turn in life” or “second summit”, or whatever you want to call it!
As we reflected, we recognized God’s golden thread — tenderly weaving through our beliefs, our choices, and the beautiful connection between God and family.
Rooted in our relationship with Him, our marriage and family have been the greatest blessing of our lives.
And we hold to this truth: the God who calls Himself the God of the Generations, has a plan for all— parents, children, grandchildren, great‑grandchildren— even the generations still to come, stretching into eternity.
“CrossGen Life is experiencing family the way God dreamed it — generations linked, learning, loving, and building up one another.”
Cross‑generational living was woven into our family from both my mom’s side and my dad’s, like threads coming together on a loom to form a blanket that has warmed me throughout my whole life.
Here’s a snapshot of what my CrossGen upbringing looked like:
After church, we’d load up and drive 15-20 min to little town called Delavan, Il. We’d spend Sunday with my mom’s tight knit clan- the Howe Family. Or we’d visit my dad’s side of the family who lived mostly in McLean and Leroy.
My brother and I didn’t lack for tons of cousin fun! Uncles grilled burgers while Grandma and the aunts created garden delights and homemade breads and desserts.
Cousins flocked together; played whiffle ball, badminton, croquet, tag, and run until we were plum tuckered out. We learned to turn a cartwheel, play hide and seek and finally, at twilight, we got mason jars, poked holes in the lids and caught fireflies, creating our very own nature made “night light”.
I miss days when we stayed outside well into the evening, and magic happened.
Both sides of my family enriched my life with different colors, textures and threads of love that are unbreakable.
Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins were who we stayed all night with and sometimes took vacations with. I felt safe and loved with our extended family- knowing I belonged, not only to my parents, but a great big extended family who would always be in my corner.
CrossGen Loving was first woven into my heart as I nestled beside my Grandma, listening to her pray for each family member by name. Her comforting prayers were a cocoon of love that has been foundational through my whole life. I watched our family honor the oldest, cherish siblings, and delight in their children — living cross‑generationally with such grace that I absorbed it as naturally as breathing.
“We marked time by togetherness — Sundays, birthdays, holidays, or not special reason at all — all sacred, all family.”
Cross generational living is walking together, hand in hand. God multiplies what we offer. Our everyday choices— how we listen, how we forgive, how we show up—these actions become seeds of blessing that grow throughout the next generations.
This is the beauty of cross-generational living; the simple, faithful things we do today become the inheritance of love our children and grandchildren will someday carry forward.
The blessing of Cross generational living, doesn’t just happen by accident; it flourishes because we choose each other, again and again.
Let’s cultivate legacy, one step at a time, Cindy
